The Region of Durham wrote back this week that the Harmony/Britannia intersection meets the minimum thresholds for a traffic signal based on the most recent traffic counts. (No Surprise eh?)
Their Traffic Division is planning to install an interim traffic signal once the developer(s) construct the interim north/south turn lanes on both sides of Harmony Road into Britannia Ave,
Funding for the signal installation has been included in the Region's 2026 budget; however, the timing of construction is dependent on the developers’ schedule.
I have to include a word of thanks here to all who put pressure on City and Region Staff on this issue.... pleased to say Ward 1 is especially blessed with some awesome strong letter writers –individuals not timid and very helpful speaking up on issues that really matter!
