ORMOND / COLDSTREAM COMMUNITY CONCERNS
related to Chartwell Phase III Project

Council has an final key vote on Mon March 28, 2022.
Oshawans are asking the RIGHT decision is made!
Ensure RIGHT-IN-ACCESS FROM RITSON RD is included in the Chartwell Site Plan!

Chartwell may want to call the Site Plan below 'complete', but it is not.     Please take time to add your voice to the many saying HOLD ON, it is missing the right-in-access from Ritson Rd. which Council voted on two years ago and approved, requesting Chartwell include it for neighbourhood safety!

email clerks@oshawa.ca and council@oshawa.ca as soon as possible!
Request that Oshawa Council ensure Chartwell includes a Ritson Rd right-in-access to its Phase 3 Project, plus the Ritson Rd. sidewalk it said it would construct!

Oshawa Council must ensure site plans include NEIGHBOURHOOD SAFETY.   Safety is an IMMENSE ISSUE for the area around the CHARTWELL Long-term Care and Retirement Residence with its soon to be built Phase 3 expansion.
Please email Clerks@Oshawa.ca and Council@Oshawa.ca to request that Council follow through on what it required Chartwell to do - include a RIGHT IN ACCESS FROM RITSON RD. to the  Chartwell Phase II Project!

Google Map of Chartwell Site in 2018 — area to the left of the driveway where the cars and trees are is the site where Phase III will be built
Note that even the Google shows children on the sidewalk at the driveway CHOKEPOINT.

With all the planned new units being added to the Chartwell campus here, and the vehicles the more active senior residents the project is geared to, accessing and egressing the existing driveway, this point presents a safety hazard.

Immediately south of the new Phase III will be the Daniels new 50 townhouse units, again with more pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk pictured, as the path of travel to the school and park to the north or the plaza to the south at Coldstream. Also note, it is the only sidewalk the Chartwell seniors have to take a stroll on outside their building without having to cross the street.

Emergency Vehicles, Delivery Trucks, Services vehicles, residents on mobility devices all use this access point.

Traffic around the Phase I & II Chartwell Wynfield buildings  has been problematic for years. The coming increase in traffic with the Phase III expansion pushes the driveway point into HAZARD territory if the Ritson Rd. right-in-access is not included. In 2020 Council required Chartwell to include it, so time to tell Council it must not be omitted! Send you email today!
