Yesterday, Oshawa Council held its all-day, remote but spirited, electronic Council meeting, dealing with issues like stop signs, dog tethering, bird feeders (bit of overreach on that one in my opinion), a backyard tree planting program, requests to reduce taxes, unanimous agreement on extending & expanding the "Welcoming Streets" initiative that was started last year as a pilot project to assist Oshawa's vulnerable in the downtown and business owners; some new restrictions on Heritage Oshawa's historical research (which really would have been better to refer back to staff for clarification, as noted by the preference of the 5 of us who lost on the 6-5 vote)
Also, there was about an hour in closed session concerning various matters such as the Oshawa Generals lease at the Tribute Communities Centre, as well as the Oshawa Generals request for reimbursement of lost advertising revenue, the Canadian Flight Academy lease and the City's CAO one year anniversary Update.
Oh, a bit of good news for improved public participation: Council unanimously passed a motion that remote participation for delegations and presentations during the declared state of emergency will be implemented as soon as possible using the current Webix or other software!
Meanwhile, big good news yesterday: Premier Ford released his "Framework for Reopening our Province". Nice see the measured three stage road map, how "when the time is right, the principles (they) will use to safely reopen Ontario and get on the path to economic recovery". Looking ahead... here are some of the details published
