Chartwell Seniors Homes has site plan approval for a 6 storey seniors residence (with a partial 7th storey for maintenance unit) with 201 living units, and 139 underground parking spaces. Their planning consultant described the project as a 'Seniors Campus'.
Chartwell has requested relief from the zoning by-law to permit reduced side yard and rear yard depths and to allow cooking facilities in 169 of the 201 living units.
At the Committee of Adjustment April 10, a number of citizens expressed concerns about the project size exacerbating the current area parking problems. I understand their concerns and we are hoping Chartwell will be a good corporate neighbour and come back to the table and give serious consideration to these concerns.
