Preparing to Start Community Cleanup Week in Ward One at Harmony Rd N (west side) south from Greenhill Ave. 11:00 a.m. this morning! Join the pitch-in, and please know if you have a particular area in Ward One you'd like help with picking up litter, please message me. www.oshawa.ca/things-to-do/community-clean-up.asp
Zero waste is something to strive for. Litter bothers me. I have called out to individuals to be more thoughtful (to the embarrassment of my kids) when they tossed litter in front of me in a park, or on the road. I pick up other peoples garbage regularly, which shows up when neighbours put blue bins out on windy days.
Just last week I spoke with someone at Durham Region Waste about the pilot program for blue bin lids (made from recycled tires). I wanted to find out how to get some for Oshawa's Ward 1, as I've seen on social media, it was happening in Whitby and Ajax. Good news is the pilot project has been a phenomenal success and the plan is hopefully to implement it Region wide...although there are roll out details to be resolved of course, involving Region Council approval. Hopefully anyone reading this here will put out the word to their Regional Council rep that the blue bin lid program would be most welcome!
