A Public Open House is being held this Thurs. May 23rd 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. @ Paul Dwyer High School cafeteria (700 Stevenson Rd. N., Oshawa) concerning the 23 hectares (56.8 acres) area where the Tank Museum, Gemini Gymnastics, 420 Wing Canteen are, and includes a portion of the Thornton Road North lands
The 2008-2012 Airport Business Plan noted that the South Field lands are no longer required for aviation services and do not need to be retained for the future development of the Airport.
The 2015-2019 Airport Business Plan directed that a study of the Airport South Field lands be undertaken to identify appropriate land uses. Completing the study this year, the Public Open House is to gather comments on the proposed land use option.
Under the City's proposed land use option the City will not contemplate selling any of its land in the Study Area in order to preserve the future use/development opportunities of the airport lands if the airport ceased operation, But the City will continue to lease/license lands and structures, as appropriate, for uses permitted under the zoning by-law.

The minor changes between the draft and final versions include the renaming the “Bone Yard” associated with the Ontario Regiment Museum as the “Spares Yard” and reflect the completion of the following:
- A presentation will be given at 7:00 p.m. to provide additional detail on the Background Study and the City's draft preferred land use option; Note that the City's draft preferred option represents the status quo, permitting continued recreational, museum, agricultural uses without buildings (i.e. community gardens) and public uses. Lands zoned AP-C (Airport) and UR (Urban Reserve) would remain unchanged.
- An Airport South Field Master Plan survey will be launched the same day and can be completed online on Connect Oshawa and in-person at Service Oshawa (50 Centre St. S.) until 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 201

- 2018 addition to the Ontario Regiment Museum main building;
- new NavCanada air traffic control tower;
- demolition of the old tower and terminal building;
- expiration of the licence between the City and the Oshawa Yacht Club that allowed the latter to use the former Canteen building (see Attachment 3 of the above linked Report DS-19-45) for storage;
- execution of the new Licence between the City and the Durham Catholic District School Board allowing school buses to use a designated portion of the South Field as a school bus turnaround.
