Good news from Oshawa’s Mayor and CAO today with their Update Notice:
1. Staff are looking into setting up a donation centre to collect food at the Delpark Homes Centre Parking lot to assist with the Region and Feed the Need Durham
2. The Region of Durham and Oshawa Senior Citizens Centre are looking into ways to reach out to isolated seniors
3 A company nearby will be producing hand sanitizer and the City will be working on trying to reserve product from this company.
4. Business, taxi and animal licences due to expire the end of March have been extended to the end of May to allow individuals and businesses more time to submit and process applications.
5. Parking is free at all metered on street locations and municipal parking lots in downtown Oshawa until April 5th.
6. The garbage bag limit is increased from 4 to 6 until April 5.
7. City is working ‘to determine the most appropriate strategy to deal with property tax concerns being raised by Oshawa taxpayers’
AND today the Province passed 2 new significant pieces of legislation:
1. Approving the legality of Councils making decisions at Virtual Council meetings
2. Protecting jobs of employees who self-isolate or quarantine.
