The Community Park that Minto now wants relocated was studied and was the PREFERRED KEY PARK ELEMENT practically from the start of the Kedron Part II Plan planning and consultative process.

Note that a lot of the existing subdivision plans following this consultant's urban design plan were approved by the 2014-2018 previous Council at its last meeting in Sept 2018. They form part of the first phase in Part II Plan. Also there have been a couple other plans of subdivision for Kedron Part II approved just recently by the current Council.
At this point no new roads have been constructed. However, in the past 11 months the topsoil has been stripped along Conlin Rd north side between Wilson and Harmony Roads...and Ritson Rd. N. opposite the Kedron Dells Golf Course.
The Kedron Part II plan is based on small parkettes, 2 Neighbourhood Parks and THIS LARGE Community Park. It should remain where it was originally planned for this main reason, as well as considering the fact that Britannia Rd. extension has not even had a design commissioned yet..and this 27 acre community park is north of that...and where Minto would like to relocate the community park is not even within the City's urban boundary, but Outside Oshawa's Urban Area Boundary (i.e. within the Region’s Rural System)!! To relocated it where the developer Minto wants it will take a comprehensive planning review and another extensive deliberative process with the Region and City Official Plan under the Places to Grow Act, the Provincial Policy Statement....In addition to the fact that the 1800 acres of the Columbus area IS in the City's Major Urban Boundary area and development will be happening there in advance of Minto's proposed other site is redesignated to be within the Urban Boundary. . It simply is not in the public interest to change the location of this Community Park!
