Not taking any Donations or Solicited Endorsements

At the start of my campaign for Oshawa Ward 1 City Councillor I made a decision not to accept any donations or solicited  endorsements.  I am running on a budget and know what feels right for me in this election.  The emails are coming in now, as expected, asking to complete surveys for an endorsement. I don't wish anyone to feel slighted, but in a nutshell, I don't need the incentive of an endorsement to answer questions. For anyone interested in my views. I am happy to connect in person or by email without an endorsement incentive. I understand the ease of putting out a survey for a particular group or association, but in my opinion inviting the candidates to an open debate is more real and beneficial to both sides.

As of today's date no councillor debates have been organized. I have accepted invitations to attend three different information sessions put on by local groups who made no promise of an endorsement...and have declined three others, trying in as courteous way as possible to say thank you but I have to decline.

My views on certain groups/associations/unions that may want the city to take a position on a particular issue, for funding or support are to be determined when on the job and I am given access to details and information affecting the city's finances and policies. I don't believe in having a closed mind and intend to be as fair and reasonable as possible in all my decisions.
