Mr. Wilcox continually works at being responsive to area resident's emails. Here are key points he made clear when answering several concerned neighbour emails this week :
- I know the name of every aircraft owner for aircraft based in Oshawa including which ones are owned by the flight schools.
- My staff and I monitor the airport traffic constantly for any violations to the noise and traffic procedures and take appropriate action when any violations occur.
- I meet regularly with my staff on the topic of aircraft noise and I also check the data provided by Nav Canada to ensure that the data matches what my staff are observing.
- All restrictions relating to Covid are administered by the Region of Durham health department.
- Both flight schools are extremely busy and I agree with you that the aircraft have been arriving, departing and circling the airport at a very high volume on every nice day.
- The Mayor and Councilors Marimpietri and Hurst have been taking the lead to ensure that we address the noise issue and their support for your concern and their assistance in this regard has been exceptional.
- The City is engaged in a court case with CFA relating to the lease and the case is ongoing with the courts.
- There is a report going forward early in the year relating to Transport Canada advisory circular 302-002 relating to the establishment of new noise abatement procedures by Transport Canada.
- There is a report relating to the draft airport business plan going forward to council early in the new year which will also assist us in establishing new noise abatement procedures
