ALL of Oshawa WARD 1 is in DURHAM RIDING. Unlike Oshawa's other 4 Wards, Ward 1 is completely outside the provincial and federal electoral OSHAWA RIDING.
Prior to 2018, Oshawa north of Taunton Road was in the provincial WHITBY/OSHAWA RIDING.
Then just before the June 2018 provincial election, the DURHAM RIDING provincial electoral boundaries were changed to include Oshawa north of Taunton Rd. and conform with Durham Riding's federal electoral boundaries.
Also in 2018 Oshawa returned to the Ward system and Oshawa’s 5 Ward boundaries came into effect. (The two previous municipal elections, held in 2010 and 2014, City Council elections were based on an At-Large system for representation.)
Ward 1 includes all of Oshawa north of Taunton Rd. except that part west of Ritson Rd. and south of Hwy 407, which is Part of Ward 2.
