I had been looking forward to this morning's Special Council meeting.
Below are the PowerPoint slides to the Consultant's Phase 2 presentation for an Updated Oshawa Neighbourhood Traffic Management Guide.
Unfortunately three years after Council requested the Update, and one whole year after the Consultant's Phase 1 presentation, the Phase 2 PowerPoint 21 slide deck and 49 page draft document were delivered to Council members only the day before the meeting. As you can see, the PowerPoint slides are detailed and the document has a large 'DRAFT' watermark on each page which makes it difficult to read. The time constraint to review the material was in my opinion unacceptable. The Draft document was only delivered in hard copy. I scanned it to add it to this post. This document does not fulfill the the City and AODA accessibility requirements.
Many residents are concerned about road safety in their neighbourhood. Finding improved ways for traffic calming in the many community area hot spots is important...the update hopefully will assist in determining what could work best, all while 'managing expectations', two words I happened to have heard repeated a lot this week.
On that note, my expectations to receive a long awaited document to see improvements advanced were not met in many ways, starting with being given documents that were lacking in accessibility. I expect better.
