Compare the marked difference between the unkept conditions of Oshawa’s Hydro corridor and the No Trespassing signs, with the Town of Whitby’s hydro corridor recreation trail that was installed over a decade ago. (pictures above)
Time for improving the poor condition of the Hydro One corridor in Oshawa running north-south between Ritson Rd. and Wilson Rd, around Everglades Park, Ritson Fields Park, Parkwood Meadow Park and Conlin Meadows Park behind Kedron School and Kedron United Church:
1. Oshawa residents complain about Hydro One delays in cutting high grass, overgrown vegetation, trees needing to be pruned or removed; ticks from the long grass landing on dogs, and a poor response from officials for maintenance. Hydro One staff often are difficult to reach and frequently unresponsive to Oshawa residents’ complaints.
2. Andreea Nicoara, who is with Hydro One Community Relations,, recently indicated 1) she can assist in escalating maintenance response; and 2) that the City of Oshawa can make a application for a license like the Town of Whitby has had for over a decade now. The email from Ms. Nicoara following up on our conversations this summer (see below) contains a link for municipalities making a license application.
3. This hydro corridor off-road trail has been on the Oshawa Active Transportation Master Plan for a proposed trail for around a decade.
Oshawans who think it time to speak up, can ask the Mayor and Council to investigate applying for the Provincial Secondary Land Use Program now by emailing [email protected] Be heard on this issue and help get things moving!

See on the Oshawa Active Transportation Master Plan map copied below, how this yet-to-be-built-trail will link with other off-road and on-road cycling trails across the City. The first map is an enlargement of the Ward 1 section of the 2015 Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP) Map, the second is the map of all Oshawa south of Conlin Rd.
