Yesterday I had the pleasure of viewing Trent University Durham's fabulous new 6 storey building on Thornton Rd (just north of the Oshawa Civic Centre)
Dean of Trent U Durham Scott Henderson, and Hailey Wright, Manager of Community Relations & Articulation, gave the tour to interested members of Council.
The building was constructed in 16 months, for ≈ $34 million. There are 4 floors of student residence accommodation, 120 units in total, consisting of 80 singles and 60 doubles, totaling 200 beds.
What was especially nice to see was, even on an overcast rainy morning, how bright and open the design is, with a warm, cozy feel to the finishing features. The copper columns and wood ceilings are two elements in particular to highlight.
On the main and first-upper floors are state-of art-lecture halls, study areas, research rooms and offices, all with superb attention to detail!
This addition to the Trent U Durham campus is a great launch for the University's next chapter for growth in and around Oshawa!
