Of course I don't expect everyone to agree with me all the time.
But I will stand up for myself when someone seems to want to make me a scapegoat to advance their agenda.
To this person's most recent comments: "Rosemary unfortunately keeps stating she stands up for the CAM yet has no evidence to show where she did so...I can't believe this Councillor like several of her colleagues pretend they care about the museum and Autoworkers and do absolutely nothing to improve the situation. Going to events or getting your picture taken isn't support. Standing up and demanding better is support... (even if it is not successful)...I asked and I have yet to see one document, Council Video, public statement on social media where she has ever sought greater funding for CAM."
Standing up and demanding better is something I do. often. on many issues. on many fronts. before and after being elected.
I am not going to list all the matters I am involved in and the concerns I try to respond to and/or help advance.
However, I very definitely have worked to raise awareness of Oshawa's automotive history. The City's historic roots in manufacturing and automotive excellence, assembling cars, trucks and the new future that lies ahead transitioning to electric and AI vehicles is both a fascinating and important Canadian story where Oshawa for over 100 years has and continues to play a key role.
This individual knows I voted YES, less than a month after being sworn into office, in support of the Vice Chair of Oshawa's Finance Committee motion to investigate the City upgrading the CAM $5,000 partnership funds to an Anchor Grant. He also knows I've voted YES each time the Finance Committee Chair and Vice Chair REFERRED and DEFERRED the motion for over two years because a NO vote would have killed it and another Councillor cannot speak to a REFERRAL or DERERRAL motion.
Keeping the lines of communication open in this situation has morphed into a regretful challenge. This will be my only response, as I've said to him before 'enough with the drama': 2 videos (posted below) of me asking questions about the museum and about GM's tax appeal settlement and the copy of some of my comments on Messenger to him.
BTW I avoid being in photo-ops, I much prefer taking pictures of events and others rather than stand in front of a camera.
